This modest little restaurant at the corner of Travis and Alabama looks like a shoestring operation, with bare concrete floors and rough tables. But the menu of African-American breakfast foods has some real standouts. They've got chicken and waffles, if you're longing to try this famous jazz-era dish. But the catfish and grits, served with two eggs and biscuits, is even better. And then there are country sausages, breakfast chops, biscuits and gravy, and all the other morning delights. Espresso drinks and gourmet coffees are the beverages of choice. Skip the boring sandwiches and salads and go with breakfast for lunch.
