This is one time when sneaking around in the dark is perfectly acceptable — the Owl Prowl at the Houston Arboretum. The urban oasis is home to a variety of owls, including screech, great horned, and barred owls. You can see them in their natural nighttime habitats, swooping through the moonlit sky, roosting in the treetops, and hunting for their dinner. Just don’t be surprised if they want to get a better look at you, too. This is a Houston Museum of Natural Science-sponsored event at the Houston Arboretum. 7 p.m. 4501 Woodway Drive. For information, call 713-639-4629 or visit www.hmns.org. $30 to $35. (Preregistration required.)
