Megafest 2008

Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias and Alejandro Fernandez lead an all-star blow-out

Get in the mood for September 16 with MegaFest 2008, a catch-all concert for Latin music fans of every persuasion. Like salsa? There’s Mr. Jennifer Lopez, uh, we mean Marc Anthony. With quite a few awards to his credit, Anthony won the Latin Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album and Best Tropical Album in the same year. Want some international pop? There’s Enrique Iglesias, a star equally at ease in English or Spanish. How about some Mexican love songs? Velvet-voiced Alejandro Fernandez (Vicente’s son) is on board. Fernandez started off singing rancheras while wearing tight, tight mariachi outfits. These days the Latin Grammy Award winner leans more towards pop — he even had a duet with Beyoncé in his 2007 release Viento a Favor. (Is it wrong of us to hope he kept the tight pants?)

Also on the bill are the Kumbia All Stars, Fanny Lu, Fonseca and DJ Flex. 3 p.m. Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands. For information, call 713-629-3700 or visit www.woodlandscenter.org. $35 to $125.
Sun., Sept. 7, 3 p.m., 2008
